Black sapote, also known as chocolate pudding fruit or black persimmon, is a fruit native to Mexico and Central America. It belongs to the family Sapotaceae and is scientifically known as Diospyros digyna. The fruit is named for its dark brown or black pulp, which has a texture and taste similar to chocolate pudding, hence the name "chocolate pudding fruit."
