Mountain Soursop

Mountain Soursop

The tree resembles Annona muricata but exhibits a broader crown and shiny foliage. It boasts a slightly greater resilience and produces fruit consistently all year round. When fully grown, it can endure brief temperature drops to 24 °F (−4 °C). Its pollen is released in permanent tetrads. The fruits are approximately spherical, featuring a dark green skin adorned with numerous short, fleshy spines, and they measure roughly 15 centimeters (5.9 inches) in length. The pulp, which is aromatic, is yellow and fibrous, carrying a tangy and bitter flavor, and houses numerous light-brown, plump seeds. Its historical utilization as traditional medicine is documented.
