Miracle Fruit

Synsepalum dulcificum, also known as the miracle fruit, is a plant native to West Africa. The berry of this plant contains a glycoprotein called miraculin, which has the ability to temporarily modify the perception of taste buds. When consumed, miraculin binds to the sweet receptors on the taste buds, causing sour and bitter foods to taste sweet. This effect can last for up to an hour.

Miracle fruit is often used as a natural sweetener and flavor enhancer for foods and beverages. It has gained popularity in recent years as a sugar substitute for people with diabetes or those looking to reduce their sugar intake.
